2019 - Top 10 Concirrus Highlights

By Hannah Freeman - December 20, 2019

As the year comes to a close, we take a moment to appreciate and reflect on some of the most exciting events of 2019.

10.
The big move

We started 2019 on a high by moving into our brand spanking new office. With twice as much space, a fantastic location opposite the shard and London Borough market on our doorstep, the team settled in quickly. This was a huge turning point for us at Concirrus and set the tone for the many milestones that were to follow in 2019. In the last 12 months our team has grown from 48 to 85 employees across our London and Delhi offices.

9. Marine Insurance London 2019

In March we were thrilled to be the Headline Sponsor for Marine Insurance London for the second year running, London's first and only dedicated marine insurance conference. Our CEO, Andrew Yeoman represented the team with a keynote focused on ‘Dynamic Portfolio Management’ which was a highlight of the day for many. It was great to meet with so many key people from the marine insurance market for a jam-packed day of presentations and panel discussions. We’re looking forward to another great Marine Insurance London on the 20 March 2020! If you’ve not already registered, do it soon to benefit from the early bird rates.

8. Dieter Berg joins the team

One of the greatest highlights for us this year was former President of the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI), Dieter Berg, joining our Board as Non-Executive Director. Having Dieter’s expertise of over 30 year’s in global reinsurance and primary insurance has been inspiring for us all. We’re excited to have him onboard for the next leg of our journey in helping clients digitalise and create a sustainable future for commercial insurance.

7. Willis Re Agreement

We entered into an exciting agreement with Willis Re this year, in a bid to accelerate digital transformation within specialty insurance by developing a truly unique offering for both Insurers and Reinsurers alike. In September, we were delighted to join Willis Re at the International rendez-vous of insurance and reinsurance in Monte Carlo to share more about our vision for the future of the market. Willis Re have also joined the Concirrus’ Power20, a community of like-minded visionaries, committed to working in collaboration to achieve long term success. As we head into 2020, we have lots on the horizon for the Concirrus Power20 so watch this space.

4. The Concirrus Bake Off 2019

Our team do a huge amount of fundraising for various charities throughout the year and 2019 was no exception. In September we organised a Macmillan Coffee Morning along with thousands of others throughout the country. But this wasn’t just any old coffee morning. We decided to turn up the heat on our bakers and hosted our very own Bake-Off raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. We even had a few special guests! Many of the team cooked up a storm but our IT Service Lead, Mark was named Concirrus Bake Off champ of 2019 with his delicious sausage rolls!

2. Movember

Towards the end of the year our Marketing Manager Joseph rounded up the troops for Movember! It was a brilliant success with Ten of Concirrus’ brightest coming together for 30 days to raise awareness for men’s mental health, prostate and testicular cancer. We had representatives from every team, each opting for their own unique style. We were very proud to say that together we raised £1,215! 1. Andy Yeoman takes no 2 spot in Lloyd’s list

Taking top spot in our 2019 highlights and rounding off a brilliant year, our CEO, Andy featured in the Lloyd's List top 10 marine insurance 2019 as part of their annual Top 100 most influential people in shipping series. This is the first time that someone from an Insurtech has made the list and represents a significant change in the market as insurers successfully collaborate with carefully selected partners to gain a competitive advantage.

A regular in the Top 10 Marine Insurance list, insurance industry veteran and non-executive Concirrus Board member, Dieter Berg commented:

“It’s both fascinating and surprising to see someone from an InsurTech venture in the top 10, this has never been seen before. It shows the growing importance of innovative deep tech companies to the future of the insurance community. We’re operating in an era that calls for a big data-based approach to underwriting and risk management. This is fabulous recognition of the time and effort Andy and his team have invested to collaborate with the insurance community and demonstrate how the benefits of digitalisation to the marine insurance market can deliver a more sustainable future.”

What a way to end such a great year!
